Zunal.com- Zunal is a Webquest building platform. Webquests are online spaces where projects can be developed. Once created, the space can provide students with all the details they need to be successful in their project work. Project Pals- Project Pals is an all-in-one project management platform that provides a visual workspace for students to organize and collaborate on projects.
Padlet- Padlet is a virtual wall, where web links, videos, photos, documents and music can be shared. Students can create a shared wall and include resources related to project work.
Google Sites, Blogger, Word Press, and Weebly- These sites all offer free spaces to create websites or blogs. Students can use these sites for a variety of purposes in their project work. A website could be created as the final product for a project, it could be used to document the stages that took place during a project, and more.
Google Slides and PowerPoint- These tools can be used by students to create the presentation featuring the final product of their project. If the project is research oriented, it can be used to present the research conducted or found during the project.
Free Podcasting Tools- This site features 20 free podcasting tools. If the final product of project work is to
create a podcast, one of these tools could be used to facilitate that task.
Tools for PBL to Support Diverse Learners
GoSoapBox- Go Soap Box is a student response app. Teachers can use this app to clarify if there is confusion with the Confusion Barometer, take polls, have class discussion, and/or allow students to ask questions. All of these features can be used during project work. It is an internet-based app and can be used with laptops, tablets, and mobile devices. Teachers can frequently check in to make sure students understand everything. There is also an anonymity feature that students can use to ask questions. Incorporating this app into project work would support learners who are challenged by focus and attention issues. The check-ins can keep them on task and on track, as can taking polls and participating in discussions. This app would also support English language learners and others who benefit from multimedia communication.
Rewordify- Rewordify is an app for English language learners that aids in reading comprehension and vocabulary development. Users can copy and paste text into a box provided within Rewordify and it simplifies the text, making it easier to understand. It highlights the words/phrases that have replaced the more complicated language. When users click on these highlighted words and phrases, the original words appear, so that they understand their meaning. They also have the option to listen to the word. As long as an individual can copy and paste, they can use this tool. It is extremely easy to navigate. Not only is this this tool beneficial for English language learners, but also those that have difficulties reading. This tool could be used throughout project work and research to ensure all learners have an equitable experience.
Evernote- Evernote is a note-taking app that can sync notes and reminders across devices and between users. Users create an account or log in through Google. A simple walkthrough is provided. It shows users how they can choose different templates for their notes, add attachments, sync notes across devices, and more. This is a great tool for organizing and planning project work, as well as keeping track of individual project tasks . Evernote is a great tool for students with ADD/ADHD. This tool can help keep them stay organized and focused. It can also help with time management.
